Petit Minou Lighthouse in Finistère, France

Petit Minou Lighthouse is located next to a 17th-century fort of the same name in the Finistère region of northwestern France. The lighthouse was added to the fort in 1848 to help ships navigate through a tricky stretch of submerged rocks in the Goulet de Brest strait. The Petit Minou light arrived about a half century too late to witness arguably the most historic event these waters have seen: In January of 1793, the first skirmish between Britain and France in the French Revolutionary Wars took place at the entrance to the strait, an event known as the Childers Incident.
